Prishtina, 7 July 2020 – In order to address the challenges faced by the retail sector and take into account the deepening crisis following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Retail Association met today with the Ministry of Finance / Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Hykmete Bajrami.

Members of the Board of Directors of the Retail Association are expressed concerns about delays in the implementation of the Fiscal Emergency Package while emphasizing the need to speed up procedures for disbursement of funds in order to ease the burden on businesses.

In addition, the Retail Association stressed the need to find a consensus among political parties in order to adopt an Economic Recovery Package which is comprehensive.

Minister Bajrami stressed that payments are being processed with several categories provided by the measures in the Fiscal Emergency Package, while the full implementation of this package and the dedication of funds for the Economic Recovery Package is subject to voting the revised budget in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. Further, Mrs. Bajrami stressed that he understands the aggravated situation and that he remains open for close cooperation with the business community to overcome the situation.

Following the meeting was discussed other issues such as the need to reduce VAT to 8% for the sector HoReCa for which the Minister Mrs. Bajrami stressed that it is being considered to address the issue of calluses, among others.
